Friday Night Movie- Princess Bride

The Princess Bride
It's "inconceivable" just how truly great this film is.

Rated PG
Adventure/ Comedy
Starring: Robbin Wright and Cary Elwes

I don't really understand why they have soft jazz in the background of that trailer...

Synopsis DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE ENDING!
The film is an enactment of the following story read by a sick boy's grandfather (Falk) as the boy (Savage) sits in bed listening, framed and occasionally interrupted by scenes of the reading.
A beautiful young woman named Buttercup (Robin Wright) lives on a farm in the fictional country of Florin. Whenever she gives her farmhand Westley (Cary Elwes) an order, he answers "as you wish," and happily complies. Eventually she realizes he loves her and admits her love for him. Westley leaves to seek his fortune so they can marry, but his ship is attacked by the Dread Pirate Roberts, who has a reputation for never leaving anyone alive.
Five years later, believing Westley dead, Buttercup reluctantly agrees to marry Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon), heir to the throne of Florin. Before the wedding, she is kidnapped by three outlaws: an extremely short Sicilian boss named Vizzini (Wallace Shawn), a gigantic wrestler from Greenland named Fezzik (André the Giant), and a Spanish fencing master named Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin), who seeks revenge against the six-fingered man who killed his father. The outlaws are pursued by Prince Humperdinck with a complement of soldiers, and also by a masked man in black.
The man in black catches up to the outlaws at the top of the Cliffs of Insanity, where he defeats Inigo in a duel and knocks him unconscious, chokes Fezzik until he blacks out, and kills Vizzini by tricking him into drinking poison. When he tells Buttercup he is Roberts, she becomes enraged at him for killing Westley and shoves him into a gorge after telling him that he could die too, but she realizes he is Westley himself when he replies "As you wish!" She dives into the gorge after him, and they flee through the dangerous Fire Swamp where they navigate the R.O.U.S. (Rodents of Unusual Size) and lightning sand. Inside Westley also explains that he inherited the title of Dread Pirate Roberts and that the name had been passed down when a "Roberts" wanted to retire. When they are captured on the other side by Humperdinck and his sadistic six-fingered vizier Count Rugen (Christopher Guest), Buttercup agrees to return with Humperdinck in exchange for Westley's release, but Humperdinck secretly has Rugen imprison and torture Westley.
When Buttercup expresses unhappiness at marrying Humperdinck, he promises to search for Westley, but his real plan is to start a war with the neighboring country of Guilder by killing Buttercup and framing them for her death. Buttercup taunts Humperdinck after learning that he never tried to find Westley. Enraged, Humperdinck tortures Westley. Meanwhile, Inigo and Fezzik meet when Humperdinck orders a gang of goons to arrest the thieves in a nearby forest, and Fezzik informs Inigo of Rugen. Inigo decides that they need Westley's help to get into the castle, and when he hears cries of anguish, he realizes they must be from Westley. Inigo and Fezzik find Westley dead, but they bring him to a miracle man named Miracle Max (Billy Crystal), who explains that Westley is "only mostly dead" and revives him to a state of heavy paralysis.
Westley, Inigo, and Fezzik get into the castle, by terrifying the numerous soldiers guarding the gates and Humperdinck orders the wedding cut short when he hears the commotion. The trio are met by Rugen, but he flees when Inigo kills several of his guards, leaving Fezzik with Westley. At the bottom of a staircase Rugen tosses a dagger into Inigo's stomach, only then realizing who he is. To the Count's surprise, Inigo forces himself up and attacks Rugen, repeating "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die." He corners Rugen and asks him if he would give him anything in exchange for his life. Rugen promises him whatever he wants then tries to attack and Inigo kills him telling the Count that he wants his father back.
Meanwhile, Westley has gotten away from Fezzik (after he briefly left to help Inigo) and Buttercup has resigned to kill herself. Westley stops her while lying on her bed and she happily runs to him. Humperdinck arrives and challenges Westley to a duel to the death. Westley bluffs his way out of the duel by threatening a duel to the pain, telling Humperdinck that instead of killing him he would leave him as disfigured and crippled, and forcing himself to stand. Buttercup ties up the prince when Inigo arrives looking for Fezzik. The giant is actually outside the window and, after getting himself lost, found four white horses for them to escape on. The story ends with Westley offering Inigo the job as Dread Pirate Roberts and sharing a kiss with Buttercup.
Back in the boy's bedroom, the boy asks his grandfather to read the story to him again the next day, to which the grandfather replies, "As you wish."

Quotes-

Grandpa: She doesn't get eaten by the eels at this time
The Grandson: What?
Grandpa: The eel doesn't get her. I'm explaining to you because you look nervous.
The Grandson: I wasn't nervous. Maybe I was a little bit "concerned" but that's not the same thing.

Vizzini: Jump in after her!
Inigo Montoya: I don't swim
Fezzik: I only dog paddle.
Vizzini: AGGHH!

Inigo Montoya: Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
Count Rugen: Stop saying that!

Miracle Max: You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.

[Buttercup kisses the senile King]
The King: What was that for?
Buttercup: Because you have always been so kind to me, and I won't be seeing you again since I'm killing myself once we reach the honeymoon suite.
The King: Won't that be nice. She kissed me, ha, ha, ha!

Inigo Montoya: That Vizzini, he can *fuss*.
Fezzik: Fuss, fuss... I think he like to scream at *us*.
Inigo Montoya: Probably he means no *harm*.
Fezzik: He's really very short on *charm*.
Inigo Montoya: You have a great gift for rhyme.
Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time.
Vizzini: Enough of that.
Inigo Montoya: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we all be dead.
Vizzini: No more rhymes now, I mean it.
Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?
Vizzini: DYEEAAHHHHHH.

Inigo Montoya: I donna suppose you could speed things up?
Man in Black: If you're in such a hurry, you could lower a rope or a tree branch or find something useful to do.
Inigo Montoya: I could do that. I have some rope up here, but I do not think you would accept my help, since I am only waiting around to kill you.
Man in Black: That does put a damper on our relationship.

Westley: Why won't my arms move?
Fezzik: You've been mostly-dead all day.

Vizzini: I can't compete with you physically, and you're no match for my brains.
Man in Black: You're that smart?
Vizzini: Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
Man in Black: Yes.
Vizzini: Morons.
