Chapter 7 half way done with my book and half way done with NaNoWriMo! :)

Casey Affleck (for those of you who don't know what he looks like)

NaNoWriMo Update:
1. I'm up to 34916 words! Which means I have about 31% to go! ...is my math right on that?
2. When I started this I read all these things about how NaNoWriMo kills you and you don't get a lot of sleep because you're striving to finish before the end of the month. I didn't really believe all of it. WELL I DO NOW! I've written two chapters in two days and have gotten little to no sleep! O_O

Okay so this scene is really important to me. It introduces Mick, a very important character, and it tells what his story is, why he needs their help, what he did. This scene gives explanations. So my question for you all is: does it make sense? Is it too cliche, are there parts that don't really fit? I would love your feedback! I always do :) Sorry it's such a long excerpt, the scene just wouldn't make sense if I only used part of it.
ENJOY! :D

Haley, Evie and Eli came back to the booth with serious faces. Everyone who was already there quickly snapped into defensive mode. The look on Eli’s face made Keegan scan the room for suspicious characters.
     “What did you see?” Keegan asked Eli, somehow making himself look like Josh Duhamel from Transformers in the process.
     “I thought I saw Mick!” Eli hissed.
     If Mickey was near, then that meant answers were coming and that danger was closer. In one motion, the group tensed and searched the sea of people for their friend’s face. Half of their party had a hand on one of their own multiple concealed guns. Shawn had his fingers rapped around the handle of his combat knife. Haley nervously picked off the loose fuzz that had stuck to Jason’s cape.
     “I see you’re still the Fashion Nazi,” a warm voice reached the group’s ears. Everyone twitched in surprise and starred at the man of medium build who suddenly appeared next to Haley.
     Haley stopped fidgeting with Jason’s cape and stared at the man. He looked so different, matured.
     “When did you get facial hair?” Sophie asked, her voice slicing through the thick near trance the group had fallen into.
     “After graduation,” Mick laughed. He bent down and hugged short Sophie. He’d grown a few inches too.
     “Yuck,” Grace coughed. She glared at Mickey.
     “I love you too Grace!” Mickey smiled at her and went to give her a hug but she moved away, force of habit. “Still don’t like me, eh?”
     She simply glared.
     Evie sheepishly smiled at Mick and he acknowledged her presence. Keegan and Eli both shook his hand, exclaiming their joy in seeing him again safely. Jason gave him a bro hug and Haley merely nodded her head, eager to learn why they were helping him.
     “And who is this?” Mick’s voice turned mocking. “Little Shawn Cassidy is that you?”
     Shawn didn’t look amused.
     “Oh come on Shawn! He didn’t mean harm!” Sophie smacked Shawn in the arm, then rapped her other arm around Mick’s waist in a half hug.
     “Shawn Cassidy? As in the Shaun Cassidy, the one with great hair?” Grace questioned, mollified now that she had someone to tease. She’d never heard his last name before.
     “My mom had a crush on Shaun Cassidy,” Shawn explained with chagrin.
     “His full name is Shawn Butch Cassidy!” Jason threw that information out there, for whoever wanted to use it.
     Shawn stared at Jason so severely Jason shut up. Everybody discussing his name was reminding him too much of High School.      When Shawn wasn’t cracking a joke Grace realized that he looked a little like Milo Ventimiglia.
     “Well aren’t we getting off to a good start?” Haley clapped her hands together and everyone snapped into attention.
     “We should take this to a more secure location,” Keegan said.
     Everyone apparently agreed, because they followed him too the door.
     As they shoved their way through the swarms of bodies, the group heard a harsh noise right next to them. Sophie and Haley cringed to hear the screeching.
   “Drunk and tone-deaf. Never a good combination,” Mick laughed at the couple singing bad karaoke near them.
     The group, Mickey included, climbed into their huge Hummer and silently drove through the meatpacking district. Eli parked the car on a quiet street; he left the engine on. The two teams sat rigidly in their seats, half of them searching the darkened neighborhood with their weapons ready. The other half gazed intently at Micky, eager for explanations.
     “Lighten up guys, we’re perfectly safe!” Mickey laughed.
     The group stared at him with unsure eyes. The white moon glared through the tinted windows casting an eerie hue.
     “We haven’t been safe for the last 48 hours. They are everywhere,” Keegan mumbled and looked out his window at a couple stumbling their way home, the same drunk couple from the club.
     “You sound so cryptic!” Mickey chuckled.
     “What is going on?” Evie begged. She’d let the reunions and friendly teasing go on for far too long. She was on the verge of losing her patience to curiosity.
     Mickey sighed. His Casey Affleck green eyes searched Evie’s as he began to fill them in.
     In his usual frank way, Mick got to the point. “About a year ago I received a letter from D.I.S. which stated that they believed me to be a mole. The twenty men in front of me were to haul me in for questioning, which they did. A year ago, they claimed to have found evidence against me; they wrongfully convicted me. I escaped.” Mick’s eyes shown with pride. “I’m sorry I was so illusive before, I can’t be too careful. An arms dealer is after me too.”
     The group starred at him with wide eyes. Sophie and Grace inched further away from him.
     They let Keegan handle the questioning.
     “Mick, is this true?” Keegan asked seriously.
     “Why would I tell you anything else?” Mick answered with his own question.
     “Dude! You were known for being the biggest prankster our graduation year,” Jason pointed out.
     “If I remember correctly, you were the bigger prankster,” Mick jeered back. Looking Keegan dead in the eye, Mick said, “I’m not lying to you. What I have told you is true. I need your help to prove my innocence. I can’t keep running like this. You are all my last resource; my last hope.”
     “What can we do?” Eli asked from the front seat.
     “Sophie, Shawn, are you still good at hacking computers?” Mick asked of the two dorky nerds.
     "Still good? I'm the best there is!" Shawn looked offended.
     "Boy, I beg to differ!" Sophie put her hands on her hips and her brow furrowed begging for a challenge.
     "You're not that good!" Shawn argued with her.
     "I wasn't saying I was the best, I was saying that Adrian is," Sophie huffed and crossed her arms over her chest.
     "Stop. I just wanted to know if you could still do it," Mick hushed them. "Can you handle a large challenge? Can you hack into the F.B.I. and D.I.S.?” He searched for a simple answer.
     "Yes," Shawn and Sophie said in unison.
     "Great. Haley, Jason, are you both capable of scouting out locations and Haley, are you still into disguises?" Mick continued to verify their skills.
     "You bet your sorry wanted head that we are," Haley confirmed.
     "We're all still well practiced in our high school training. They've been refined to skills," Grace rolled her eyes. Only three years had passed, how long did he think it'd been?
     "Good. I need you all to," here Mick stopped to take a suspenseful breath. "I need you all to prove my innocence, hack into databases and obtain some documents. We have to," Mick abruptly stopped.
     "Go on!" Evie urged after a moment of silence.
     Mick heard Evie but settled his eyes on Shawn. “We need to go to DC.”
     Sophie and Keegan held their breath. They knew how Shawn was about the government. Like Sophie, he was a bit of a conspiracy theorist, but he took it to a completely different level.
     “No, absolutely not! That’s like walking straight into the lion’s den!” Shawn started to rant, but stopped.
     Mick didn’t argue or protest. He simply lowered his head in anticipated disappointment.
     “For, Mick, Shawn,” Sophie whispered.
     Shawn stared at his golden shoes and didn’t answer, but he didn’t argue either.
     “We have to illegally break into the government databases?” Keegan asked Mick.
     “Yes,” Mick solemnly said.
     The group knew how dangerous this job would be, but they trusted Mick’s innocence. They couldn’t have him go down for something he didn’t do. What if the rolls had been reversed? Some of the members were skeptical of the whole operation and it’s safety, but as a whole, they agreed to assist their friend. Haley held a grudge against the agency, so she was all for proving them wrong.
     “What are we supposed to do in DC?” Eli asked. He was twisted around in the front seat and no longer looking out the windshield.
     “The F.B.I. poses photos which could put me on death row. D.I.S. was trying to get their hands on them, but the process took to long, that’s when I made my break,” Mick informed them.
     “Put you on death row,” Keegan repeated.
     “The photos are… compromising, but taken out of context,” Mick began. “They prove everything, yet prove nothing. The pictures were taken while I was on a mission. They will use those pictures against me, to prove I spoke with the arms dealer. I did nothing wrong, they’re twisting the facts,” Mick’s voice cracked. “We need to retrieve them first. The arms dealer on my tail, the one who you’ve run into no doubt, is in those pictures. If D.I.S. or I produce those documents, it’ll reveal who he is in the process. He is the true mole. If you see those photos, not only will his dealings become known, but his true identity will be revealed. I’m the only person to have seen his face; if those photos are taken by D.I.S. then I will not have been the only one to see him. If D.I.S. gets a hold of them we’re both screwed. If I get them, I can destroy them. The dealer is following me so he can get them first, you are all just witnesses he needs to take out,” Mick explained in extreme detail.
     “I got your back Mick; I believe you,” Sophie comforted.
     “Knew I could count on you Soph,” Mick slightly smiled at her and patted her hand.
     Grace’s eyes shot suspiciously between the pair.
     “The Dealer is Felix Boscov, yes?” Keegan quickly asked.
     “No,” Mick answered, his eyebrows nit together.
     Why was Boscov following them? If he was not the one Mick was talking about, then they had two Arms Dealers hunting them and now they were agreeing to support Mick, turning D.I.S. against them.
     “What’s our first move?” Keegan slowly wondered. If Mick had not been the good friend Keegan knew him to be, Keegan would have turned him into D.I.S. himself. They were all taking a big risk.
     “We’re going to DC,” Mick answered.
     “To Da Capitol then,” Jason said.
     “Politicians, F.B.I., Secret Service,” Shawn scowled. D.I.S. was the only government organization he trusted; even now, his trust of the agency was wary. Somewhere in his past he’d formed a distaste for men in black suits and government badges. It’s pretty safe to say he was just paranoid.
     “We’re going to attend a ball,” Mick half smiled. He failed to mention this before.
     “Excuse me?” Sophie raised an eyebrow.
     “The only chance we’ll have at getting those photos is during a ball that the President will be throwing in a week. Now we finally get to see Sophie in a strapless gown!” Mick full out

Chapter 6 of my NaNoWriMo Book! :)

Here is the sixth installment of my story. I recently finished chapter 7, so there' some good news! And I changed the name of my book, once again. Originally the book was called Welcome To The Jungle... Of Espionage. I was told by quite a few people that that was a really long title. I'm also making this book into a series of four. If I left the title that long the rest of the series would be called that! So now my title is Comic Intelligence, because it's a spy comedy. What are your thoughts on the title change? AND OF COURSE, what are your thoughts of this excerpt?

However, Morgan finally let the curiosity get to her. Another tell that she was Sophie’s younger sister was that neither of them could wait for surprises long. Sophie was a little more obnoxious with it though.
     “Okay, forgive me for not knowing, but who is Mickey? Like, I know of him, but I don’t know him. Who is he?” Morgan exploded with the question.
     “Friend.” - “Friend.” - “Old High school chum.” - “Jerk!” -   “Bully.” - “A dude I had some classes with.” - “Her friend.” - “Ex.”
     Morgan got so many different answers; she raised her brows in confusion and starred at them. “Okay? …” She said, not quite sure of an appropriate reaction.
     “We all knew him. Some of us more then others,” Sophie shrugged.
     “Okay, then why is he so important if only some of y’all knew him?” Morgan was still confused as to why they were risking their lives for a guy that only some of them knew and for a reason that none of them were aware of.

~~~~
      This is the moment in the movies where they’d have the big reveal type of moment. The moment where the main dude tells his history, reveals a little more about himself, the why, the who, the where, the when, and the how.  Now you’ve probably observed that the gals and I are what some would like to call “Chatty Cathay’s”. Ha! …Well it’s true. We babble for long periods of time and would never stop talking if nobody told us too. So, allow me to tell you the short version of our conversation.
            Evie, Keegan, Eli, Jason and I were friends of Mickey back in high school, but he bullied Shawn and Grace never liked him. Shawn was a bit of a dork and Mickey always picked on him, according to Shawn that is. I never saw him be mean to Shawn. I thought Mickey was a pretty swell guy, myself. The reason Grace never liked him was because he dated Evie for a time and she was convinced that he was cheating on her. I honestly didn’t think he was and neither did Evie. Eventually Evie and Eli broke up and it wasn’t pretty. Evie cried for a real long time (I spent a fortune on tissues!), but they remained friends. Haley could care less about him.
            Now hold on a second, if we were all his friends, then how come we didn’t know each other before? Why didn’t we as a group know Jason, Keegan, Eli, and Shawn? That’s what my sister wanted to know and the answer is simple. It was easily explained to her because she’s apart of the D.I.S. program. We all knew Mickey, but not each other because we flew in different crowds. D.I.S. is a huge school. The building is located on and inside of a mountain for crying out loud. Shawn and I had science classes with Mickey. Some of the guys shared the same Defense Training class with him. We all just had various classes with the man. That was the weird thing about Mick. Generally, a D.I.S. student chose a field to study and stuck with it. I chose the lab, the sciences, so I had many classes in the lab. I wasn’t limited to them, but they were the bulk of my studies. Grace liked weapons and combat. Haley had the arts and sciences and Evie had combat and the sciences along with me. We had other classes too, they were required so that we could become reliable spy’s, like defense training and learning different languages. However, the sciences and combat were our specialties. I had history on the side. Every student in that school was in a team of four. It was something unique to D.I.S. There was always a group of four. So the weird thing about Mickey was that he knew everybody, he had a group, but he wasn’t attached to them. They were just assigned faces. He seemed to fit into everyone’s team. He took all the classes, mandatory or not.
            Finally, let me tell you why we helped him out. One reason is, five of us were his friends, and one didn’t care, so we overruled the other two. Grace, Shawn and Haley had our backs; they’re our friends, so they decided to help us for the adventure and for loyalty. We helped Mickey because he was a friend, the popular guy. He was in need of help, so we were doing our best to help him.
            Yes, that’s the short version!
            On with the story!
Chapter 5 one third of the way done! :D
We're a third of the way done! Here is part of chapter 5. It's called We Gotta Get Outta This Place by The Animals.
“Sophie! Really? Now is not the time!” Grace threw a hanger over the divider. It hit Sophie in the head.
     “Ow!” Sophie let out an evil laugh. “I think you like him too!” She teased.
     “Sophie! Make no mistake! I will hit you upside the head with my purse!” Grace growled.
     “You still have your purse?” Evie yelled from another stall.
     “After all of the running and crawling and chasing and falling and explosions you still managed to keep your purse with you?” Haley laughed out of the fourth stall.
     “It’s my baby.” Grace jokingly referred to her turquoise pleather bag.
     The other three laughed and walked out of their rooms in their new clothes.
     “What are you wearing?” Haley stared at Sophie with a look that nobody could describe.
     Sophie took it to be a look of disgust. She turned up her nose and turned on a haughty air. “Yes, I’m rockin’ this coat, thank you very much!”
     Sophie strutted out of the room in her big black leather studded jacket, tight black jeans, black leather studded boots, black shirt, and a chain on her pants. You name it, it was black and it was on Sophie. She looked somewhat punkish. She’d even managed to find a fake nose ring and apply it to her nostril.
     "Wow," Grace dragged out the word.
     The other three followed her out of the room and then collided into Sophie's backside. She was nose to nose with an angry looking woman who looked to be in her fifties.
     "You're paying for that aren't you!" The woman screeched.
     "Yeah, we are," Sophie said.
     "Look here missy!" The woman pointed a bony finger at her. "I'm old enough to be your mother. I've seen things you could never dream of! You do not say, 'Yeah' to me you say Yes ma'am! You hear!" She yelled.
     "What a nut job!" Haley said under her breath.
     The woman heard Haley and turned on her. "What did you say? What did you say!"
     "Look, Ethel, is it?" Haley read the employee's nametag.
     "That's Miss Ethel Taviola to you young lady!" The woman growled.
     "Miss Ethel Taviola, we really don't have time for this, we need to be on our way!" Haley said without patients and pushed past Ethel.
     "Oh! Ohh!" Ethel screamed and applied a dramatic hand to her forehead.
     "Ethel?" Another employee came around the corner.
     "They, she! She pushed me when I tried to stop them! The thieves!" Ethel accused the group.
     "What?" The women said at once.
     "We're not trying to steel from anyone, we didn't hurt her!" Haley said.
     The woman's tag read Millie and she smiled at Haley. "I believe you ma'am. Please excuse Ethel. She's apart of our Rehabilitation for the Insane Program. RIP for short. Just ignore her. She accuses everyone of stealing. Come this way and I'll be able to ring you up."
     Millie led the way to the front of the store. The group looked back and Ethel glared at them as they walked away.
     "Now what?" Evie hissed.
     "How are we going to pay for this. We have no money. We were going to steel," Haley whispered in exasperation.
     "I'll pay," Grace sighed.
     "Really?" Sophie asked. She looked at all of the clothing, picked up a graphic tee, and brought it with them to the check out counter.
     "You don't need that," Evie said to Sophie.
     "I know, but I like it. Always grab whatever you can when a pessimist offers to buy; they won't expect you to pay them back." Sophie voiced her reason and Haley grabbed a cute purse.
     Grace sighed and paid for their clothing. Then the group went back into the store in search of the men.
     They found them in the very back corner. They were ready to go, but Keegan was still puzzling over which socks to get.
     "It's not rocket science!" Jason said to Keegan. "Just pick a pair, let's go!"
     "Hey, I like my socks a certain way, okay? Give me a moment!" Keegan glowered and went back to studying the footwear.
     They heard Shawn laughing and they turned around to see where he was. He popped his head, which now dawned a blonde afro wig, out from behind a rack and held up a ginormous shoe.
     "Look guys! Proof that big foot does exist!" Shawn held out the loafers for all to see.
     "Hey, just my size!" Eli exclaimed and grabbed the monstrous shoes. They fit him perfectly.
     "These are some nice socks," Keegan said. He held up a pair of black socks that were soft to the touch.
     Sophie looked at the socks, then at Keegan. "Keegan, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." She reached out her hand and touched the socks.
     "You like socks?” He looked excited but cautious.
     "Yes." She confirmed.
     "How sweet." Grace rolled her eyes.
     "Let's get going," Jason encouraged them out the back door.
     As they snuck out, Ethel Taviola met them at the door.
     “Thieves!” She screamed and pointed her skinny finger at them. “Thieves, thieve! No!” She grabbed a broomstick and started to flog Jason and Shawn over their heads.
     “Get off me you hag!” Shawn sputtered.
     “Good Lord woman!” Jason exclaimed and grabbed the broom from her clutches.
     “Move!” Keegan ordered and the group zipped out the back door. Ethel was right behind them.
     “Thieves!” She kept screeching.
     “Keegan!” Jason groaned.
     “Be my guest.” Keegan sighed and shook his head.
     “You crooks!” Ethel shouted at their backs.
     “Can I please shoot her?” Grace asked Haley.
     Haley looked ready to tell Trigger Happy Grace, yes, when Keegan said no.
     Jason turned around and grabbed Ethel’s elbow. He dragged her out of sight.
     “Keep moving,” Keegan ordered.
     They walked down the street and didn’t look back. In a few moments, Jason was with them again. Keegan and Jason shared a silent glance and continued on their way. Ethel was not going to be a problem anymore.
Chapter 4! Of NaNoWriMo
Yeah, I'm writing a book, but you already know that!
Progress Update: I'm halfway done with my book! :D
Question: Judging by what I've posted so far... is my book lame? I'd really like some feedback.
Challenge: Who wants to help me with my book title?! So far I'm thinking it should be Welcome to the Jungle... Of Espionage. All of my chapter titles are named after songs, mostly rock songs. There is even a chapter called Welcome to the Jungle! I thought that this title would work well, because it ties into the book. What are your thoughts?
Explanation: The font in the book changes from Times New Roman to Currier New. Currier New is when the women are telling their story through flashback. It's Currier New font because it's being written by the stenographer. The Times New Roman font is indicating that they are in the present moment, in the interrogation room, and the story is being told through Sophie's point of view.
Excerpt: March On by Good Charlotte
“What are you two doing?” Grace raised an eyebrow. “You do realize we’re in a hallway, right?” Sophie and Shawn were scooting down the hallway with their backs against the wall. Haley looked at Grace and she backed against the wall too. Sophie started to hum the Mission Impossible theme song. Keegan kept his smile.
     “Wow, guys, just, wow.” Grace shook her head and turned away from them.
     “Where is Carmie?” Sophie asked Keegan, she walked against the wall a little faster and matched his pace.
     “She’s a doctor in the Maternity department; she should be around here somewhere,” Keegan answered her.
     Sophie looked at him. She stared at him and cocked her head to the side. Grace saw. Grace tried to see what Sophie was looking at. Haley made an “hm” noise and nodded her head in agreement.
     “What?” Keegan demanded. He didn’t like people staring at him.
     “Has anyone ever told you, you look exactly like a tanner, taller version of Joel Madden?” Sophie wondered.
     “Who?” Keegan was confused.
     “Do you have any tattoos?” Sophie asked.
     “What?”
     “Specifically sleeves?” Sophie persisted. She observed his long coat sleeves and tried to remember if he had any tattoos. She sighed a little disappointedly when she saw that ‘Made Manu’ wasn’t tattooed across his knuckles. “Maybe it’s just the hair. Have you ever spiked it?”
     “No.”
     “Can I spike your hair?” Sophie squinted her eyes. Grace and Haley laughed.
     “No!” Keegan put more space between himself and Sophie.
     “You do sort of look like him,” Jason noticed.
     “Scratch that you look more like Benji, the cuter version that is.” Sophie changed her mind. “Have you ever been considered chubby?”
     “Can we walk in silence?” Keegan begged.
     “Did you just say he was cute?” Haley asked.
     Everyone looked at Sophie.
     “Yes, yes I did,” she shrugged. “Benji is very cute, in a creepy teddy bear sort of way.”
     “You think I’m creepy?” Keegan asked.
     “She’s talking about Benji,” Haley reminded him.
     “Never mind, he’s Joel.” Sophie changed her opinion again.
     “Ugh.” Keegan ran a hand through his pitch-black hair and walked faster.
     “Don’t walk away,” Sophie called after him.
     “You have to face the strange!” Jason told him and winked at Sophie.
     “March on, Keegan,” Haley joined in.
     “Are you kidding me?” Grace looked at Haley.
     “I was partnered with Sophie in Art class when she went through that phase,” Haley explained.
     “I want to fall in love!” Sophie grinned.
     “I just wanna live,” Jason shrugged.
     “Plus my boyfriend was a fan.” Haley rolled her eyes.
     “She’s my riot girl.” Jason grinned and put an arm on Haley’s shoulder.
     “You are all young and hopeless.” Grace shook her head. “I was around her during that phase too, you are not alone,” she added when Haley gave her a look.
     “We believe… you are wounded,” Shawn awkwardly said to Haley. He tried to remember more songs.
     “A two-fer, nice!” Haley bumped his fist.
     “Please, stop! Just stop!” Keegan begged.
     “I don’t wanna stop,” Jason mumbled another song title.
     “Let the music play, I mean children,” Grace told Keegan.
     “We are not children!” Haley frowned.
     “I am and will be, always and forever, or maybe I’ll change. It’s complicated.” Sophie rambled.
     Haley laughed and managed to trip over her own feet.
     “Timber,” Grace commented and watched Haley fall.
~~~~

     “Some friend you are.” Haley glared at Grace.
            “Keegan caught you.” Grace widened her eyes and stated the obvious.

~~~~
     Keegan reached out a hand and caught her. He supported her weight and she winced while trying to make herself well adjusted.
     “Dude, keep your hands off my girl!” Jason frowned and reached for Haley.
     “Oh get over it, it’s not like you own me.” Haley frowned and steadied herself on Keegan’s arm.
     Jason ignored her attitude. “Keegan!” He prompted when Keegan didn’t let go of her.
     “I heard you! Just give her a second.” Keegan’s brows pushed together.
     “Hey good job!” Shawn congratulated him on naming another song.
     “What?” Keegan was utterly discombobulated.
     “Never mind.” Shawn pouted.
     Haley transferred from Keegan to Jason. The little game was over and Haley looked really pale. She was never pale she was the tan babe. Haley can’t be pale! She’d lost too much blood. They had to find a doctor… literally.
~~~~

     “I think I was just mad,” Haley laughed. “I mean, I’d lost a lot of blood too, but Jason was getting on my nerves!”
            “Aww, but he’s so sweet and caring,” Grace countered.
            “Yeah but yeesh! Enough with the Riot Girl! And it’s not like I can’t take care of myself.” Haley rolled her eyes.
            In the words of Haley, people, ‘I don’t need no man to take care of me.’ This is usually accompanied with a head bob and some sassy lips and/or a ‘holler’ from Grace and a ‘Raise da roof!’ from me. The last is added for good measure and the fact that I rarely get to use that phrase in an appropriate setting.
            Moving on!

     “Oh look!” Sophie was quickly distracted and ran up to the wheel chair. “Get in!” She prompted Haley. Haley didn’t need to be told twice.
     Sophie pushed Haley through the halls and was joined by Shawn.
     “Shawn! Really?” Keegan said. Shawn shrugged and pushed Sophie and Haley in the wheelchair.
     The group fell silent when they heard faint voices. The words grew louder and the group walked slower.

NaNoWriMo installment of chapter THREE!

Here is an excerpt from my third chapter! It's called, Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith. There's a part in that song where the lyrics say, "Can't catch me cuz the rabbit done died." The chapter is named Sweet Emotion because of that rabbit part. There's a scene where the cops can't catch Haley cuz the rabbit done died. A bunch of people surround this poor little rabbit who lies limp in the street and cause a road block. It's real tragic. Anyways! Here's part of that chapter!

“Are you kidding me?” Grace stared at the old Taxicab. She kicked it. It was horrible
     “It was the only thing I could find!” Shawn explained.
     Grace looked around at all the perfectly decent cars surrounding them and made a face, a dude-look-around-you face.
     “I’m just saying if I had my car stolen I would be mad. I was trying to be considerate,” Shawn said.
     “Yeah, well, now we’re all going to die.” Grace looked at the falling apart contraption in disgust.
     “It’s a fine car.” Shawn looked at it with pride. It ran, it was sturdy, what more could they ask for?
     “Yeah, well if I agreed with you we’d both be wrong.” Grace frowned at the rusting parts.
     “She said, ‘Find a car.’ I found a car and what do I get? Insults! It’s a car and it runs, be grateful woman!” Shawn looked hurt and he climbed into the car and sulked.
     Keegan chuckled and reached for the driver’s door.
     “Ey!” Grace stopped him. “I’m drivin’. I’m drivin’. I’m drivin’.” She moved past Keegan and grabbed the wheel.
     Keegan did not look like he was going to let that fly.
     “She’s a really good driver,” Sophie said and grabbed one of his arms, giving it a pull. He didn’t budge. “She will kill you.” Sophie tried the truth this time.
      Keegan looked at her then at Grace. Grace smiled sarcastically. He gave in.
     “Shot gun!” Keegan called.
     “Shot- grr,” Sophie glared at Keegan. He whistled a happy tune and sat in the passenger’s seat.
     “Buckle up!” Grace said. She strapped herself in and waited for everybody else to do the same. Nobody listened to her. “You’re gonna regret that,” she warned.
     Grace revved the engine and it came to life. The exhaust pipe backfired and lurched the cab forward.
     “This car makes me want to weep and then die,” Grace said in a poorly executed British accent. Shawn sniffled.
     “Twelve O’Clock,” Keegan said.
     “It’s not twelve,” Grace looked at him as if he were stupid.
     “Right behind you is one of Felix Boscov’s crony’s.” Keegan settled into his seat.
     “A Russian Arms Dealer? How cliché.” Grace pulled down her bright green sparkly sunglasses and full out grinned. Even if their ride was a hunk of junk, it was a vehicle and it ran. Put her on a roof and she’d puke. Give her a car at any place and any time and she’d be in her own little heaven.
     She zoomed out into the street and hit 70 mph in no time. The car began to rattle, ready to explode at any moment. As she weaved through traffic, Sophie held onto her seat for dear life and Shawn looked ready to die. Keegan seemed bored, or annoyed, maybe that was just his regular face.
     They skidded into 12th avenue. Haley sped up behind Grace in her dodge, a cop on her tail.
     “There’s one,” Grace looked in her review mirror at Haley.
     “It’s the fuzz! Be cool!” Sophie saw the cops and leaned back in her seat.
     Evie roared up on a motorcycle, Eli was right next to her.
     “Wicked!” Sophie stared at her friend. “Now she just needs a leather vest.”
     “Dude!” Shawn looked over Sophie and waved at Eli and Evie.
     “And we’re stuck with the Taxi Cab,” Grace mumbled.
     “We’re attracting too much attention,” Keegan warned. He was sitting up in the passenger’s seat.
     Behind them, they could see five more cops chasing Haley. Another helicopter not NYCPD sanctioned flew above them. Black SUV’s rounded the corner and joined the pursuit.
     “Why is it always black?” Sophie shook her head. “Ack!”
     The helicopter started shooting and one of the SUV’s pulled out a machine gun. Sophie rolled up into a ball in the back seat. Shawn screamed and ducked his head down. Grace picked up speed and pulled in behind Haley. A police car that skidded into the street cut off Evie. She popped a wheelie and rode right over it.
     “That was totally awesome!” Sophie shouted at Shawn.
     “I know right?” He hollered back.
     Haley cut in front of a car and it and crashed into the one beside it, causing a roadblock. By the time Grace reached the wreck, it had turned into an eight-car pile up.
     Grace shifted gears and gained even more speed. “I love this car!” She screamed.
     “I think I’m gonna puke!” Sophie wined.

First Chapter of My Book

Since I shared a glimpse of chapter two yesterday, I thought it'd be fitting for me to share chapter 1! :D Today I'm going to get started on chapter 7. Can you guess what song is the title? I'll give you a few hints: The chapter is about the group going to a party, in a high class club, in New York, in disguises and one man is looking pretty SHARP! Lol bet you can't guess what song it is! But if you can... then kudos to you!
Chapter 1 is called Hey Mickey because the friend they help throughout the book is named Mickey.
Now here is part of chapter 1! :D I

Chapter 1
Hey Mickey by Tony Basil

“I really don’t understand! Why are we here?” Evie asked of the three of us lined up beside her.
            I leaned over the metal table so I could see past Haley and answer my friend. “They are just wanting our statement, our side of the story. Don’t worry Evie.”
            “And that’s why we’re cuffed to the table. It all makes sense now!” Grace rolled her eyes sarcastically and rattled her cold shackles to emphasize her point.
            I glared at her and noted that Evie looked ready to cry. Grace’s bad mood was starting to grate on my nerves.
            “Precautionary, I guess.” Haley shrugged and picked at the gold polish on her nails.
            “Oh don’t kid yourself. We’re probably gonna end up in padded cells for the rest of our lives, but that’s just precautionary, right?” Grace glared at her feet.
            “You’re being mean.” I complained and moved uncomfortably in my chair. It too was made of metal and my caboose had fallen asleep.
            “I’m not being mean, I just highly dislike people who handcuff me to tables,” Grace sniffed.
            “I don’t understand, we did nothing wrong!” Evie said. Perfect Evie, just perfect; you set it up real clean. It was well executed.
            “Exactly Downey,” I mumbled.
            “Downey?” Evie asked.
            “Never mind.” I shook my head. Nobody got the reference, but if the interrogator looked anything like Jack Nicholson, I would scream, ‘you can’t handle the truth!’
            “It certainly looks like we did.” Haley said.
            “We didn’t know.” Grace sighed.
            The four of us then waited in somber silence. We looked around the bright, padded room and at the blue-ish lights that hung above the metal table. It was boring. It was dull. It was everything a D.I.S. interrogation room should look like.
            Here we were, four women, four best friends, four spy’s barley into our twenties, I mean Haley was still nineteen herself, sitting in an interrogation room waiting for the no doubt control freak interrogation officer.
            “Sophie, what are you doing?” Grace looked tiredly at me. I was making faces at the wall. I was in dire need of some silliness.
            “I bet that’s the wall that they can see us through,” I said while attempting a monkey face. I flared my nostrils at the dark mirror set across from us. Haley laughed beside me and crossed her eyes at her reflection.
            “Hey look, no hands!” Haley held her un-cuffed hands up at the mirror in the shape of a flying bird.
            “How’d you…” Grace gaped at Haley in amazement.
            Haley chuckled and wiggled her free fingers. “Magic,” she smiled innocently. She ran her hand through her pink streaked blonde hair and then stretched her joints. Yeah she had loose fingers. When we first met, we had to watch our pockets around her. I’m still fairly positive she was the one that stole my shoe money. I kept my spare cash in my shoe and it’d accumulated to around $900 when it just mysteriously disappeared and she somehow managed to be able to afford those $350 sunglasses she’d wanted.
            “Oh don’t gloat,” Grace frowned.
            Haley stuck her tongue out then grinned.
            “Ugh, I’m hungry,” Evie pouted at the left hand side of their table. “I knew I should have eaten that snack. Do you think they’ll let me eat in here?”
            “Again with your stomach!” Haley laughed in disbelief.
            “You know I have a fast metabolism!” Evie wined.

BONUS POINTS (a.k.a. pat yourself on the back and know that you're awesome) if you know what movie reference I made in this excerpt.

NaNoWriMo Progress

Heeeyyyy peoples! Turns out I CAN'T STAY AWAY FROM HERE! :D SO, I've decided to at least blog about my progress on NaNoWriMo.
For those of you who don't know what NaNoWriMo is, basically the goal/challenge is to write a novel/50,000 words in one month! If you reach the 50,000 word goal, then you win a t-shirt and your book in paperback form...HOW COOL IS THAT!!?!?!?
Now, how am I doing? PRETTY DERN GOOD, IF I MAY SAY SO MYSELF! I've reached 26,225 words. Do you know what that means? IT MEANS THAT I'M OVER HALF WAY DONNEEE!!! AND that I'm a writing spaz! According to my stats, if I continue at this writing frenzy rate I should be done on Friday. Ha...hahahah, yeah THAT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN! BUT I'm doing good for now!
Wanna know my secret for quick writing? VERY DETAILED OUTLINES! Multiple outlines. I created my characters MONTHS before this thing. I wrote out (in extreme detail) everything about my characters. Their personality, looks, physical traits, likes, dislikes, humor, quirks, personal history...ect. THEN I wrote out a very very very detailed outline of 15 chapters. I'm on chapter 7 by the way. AND if I thought of a neat scene or somebody said something that I thought would fit into my book... guess what... yup, I wrote it down! So if you want to write fast for NaNoWriMo in the future, write outines. The words will pour out of you!

Here is an excerpt from my second chapter called JUMP by Van Halen. Yeah, I named my chapters after songs xD

Across the front lobby was a scene that made Sophie’s eyes widen in surprise. Grace was struggling with Evie on one arm and Haley on the other. They were trying to drag her into an elevator without any success and convince the security guard that despite what it looked like, it was not what it looked like.
“I promise sir, we really aren’t trying to harm her. We came all this way, and she’ll hate to miss the view. She’ll thank us for it later.” Haley was saying to the guard when Sophie approached them.
“Get off of me!” Grace planted her feet and pulled Haley over her shoulder.
The guard grabbed his radio.
“Ouch!” Haley lay on her back glaring up at Grace’s disgruntled face.
“Ma’am are you okay,” the guard asked. He seemed confused as to which woman he should be more concerned about. He didn’t know what to make of this situation.
Grace gritted her teeth and struggled with Evie.
“Look dude, they are my friends. They’re just trying to kill me.” Grace grunted when Evie grabbed her around the waste and pulled her a few inches closer to the elevator.
“We are not trying to kill you!” Evie squeaked. Her air was cut off when Grace elbowed her in the ribs.
“She just hates heights,” Haley explained.
The guard gave them a suspicious glance. These women seemed harmless enough, despite their violence. They looked like regular tourists looking to enjoy the view of the Empire State Building. He turned and walked away, but kept them in the corner of his eye.
“You haven’t gotten over your irrational fear of heights yet?” Sophie smiled, making sure the guard was still in earshot.
“It’s not irrational, Sophie. It’s not irrational to desire to NOT fall off of a building and splatter on a sidewalk!” Grace almost broke away from Evie. Evie tackled her and dragged her by her ankles a few more inches to their open elevator.
“It’s nice to see you too,” Sophie smiled.
“Hey, Sophie!” Evie grinned as she pulled Grace’s arm back in a simple chicken wing.
Haley walked over to Sophie and gave her a hug, “Hey! It’s been too long! We have to catch up after all of this.”
“I know right?” Sophie agreed.
“Have you seen the portrait I took of the President and first lady?” Haley asked.
“Ohmigosh, YES! That was beautiful. Good job on landing the Personal-Photographer-to-the-Whitehouse-Residents job! Gosh,” Sophie congratulated.
Haley beamed with pride. It’d been a hard job to land.
“Come on Haley,” Evie grunted as Grace tried to shake herself free of Evie’s vice like grip. Grace’s impressive flexing muscles were showing off in her green pineapple t-shirt. Evie couldn’t hold her much longer and shot a cautious glance at the observing crowd that had started to form around them.
“Oh, yeah,” Haley walked back over to their red-faced friend.
Evie tightened her grip and pulled with as much force she could muster. Haley gave Grace a good shove, sending her a few more inches in the direction they were going. The elevator door closed and Evie mumbled an expletive.
“Would you stop standing around and help us!” Haley groaned over her shoulder toward Sophie.
Sophie took her hands out of her pockets and grabbed an ankle. Haley took hold of Grace’s other ankle and they both lifted. With Grace fully off the ground, the group moved quickly and had her in the elevator in no time.
When the doors shut, the women dropped Grace and she fell flat on her face. She jumped back up and Sophie and Evie dived out of the way. Haley wasn’t fast enough and Grace landed a wicked right hook on Haley’s jaw. Haley rubbed her jaw, pulled out a syringe from her leather backpack/purse/satchel thingy and stabbed it into Grace’s neck. Grace fell limp into Evie’s arms and her eyes fluttered shut, her muscles relaxed.
“How long does this last?” Sophie questioned.
“Long enough to get her up there,” Haley said rubbing her tender jaw. Grace had hit her good.
Evie set Grace down, leaning her up against the wall.
