NaNoWriMo installment of chapter THREE!

Here is an excerpt from my third chapter! It's called, Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith. There's a part in that song where the lyrics say, "Can't catch me cuz the rabbit done died." The chapter is named Sweet Emotion because of that rabbit part. There's a scene where the cops can't catch Haley cuz the rabbit done died. A bunch of people surround this poor little rabbit who lies limp in the street and cause a road block. It's real tragic. Anyways! Here's part of that chapter!

“Are you kidding me?” Grace stared at the old Taxicab. She kicked it. It was horrible
“It was the only thing I could find!” Shawn explained.
Grace looked around at all the perfectly decent cars surrounding them and made a face, a dude-look-around-you face.
“I’m just saying if I had my car stolen I would be mad. I was trying to be considerate,” Shawn said.
“Yeah, well, now we’re all going to die.” Grace looked at the falling apart contraption in disgust.
“It’s a fine car.” Shawn looked at it with pride. It ran, it was sturdy, what more could they ask for?
“Yeah, well if I agreed with you we’d both be wrong.” Grace frowned at the rusting parts.
“She said, ‘Find a car.’ I found a car and what do I get? Insults! It’s a car and it runs, be grateful woman!” Shawn looked hurt and he climbed into the car and sulked.
Keegan chuckled and reached for the driver’s door.
“Ey!” Grace stopped him. “I’m drivin’. I’m drivin’. I’m drivin’.” She moved past Keegan and grabbed the wheel.
Keegan did not look like he was going to let that fly.
“She’s a really good driver,” Sophie said and grabbed one of his arms, giving it a pull. He didn’t budge. “She will kill you.” Sophie tried the truth this time.
Keegan looked at her then at Grace. Grace smiled sarcastically. He gave in.
     “Shot gun!” Keegan called.
“Shot- grr,” Sophie glared at Keegan. He whistled a happy tune and sat in the passenger’s seat.
“Buckle up!” Grace said. She strapped herself in and waited for everybody else to do the same. Nobody listened to her. “You’re gonna regret that,” she warned.
Grace revved the engine and it came to life. The exhaust pipe backfired and lurched the cab forward.
“This car makes me want to weep and then die,” Grace said in a poorly executed British accent. Shawn sniffled.
     “Twelve O’Clock,” Keegan said.
“It’s not twelve,” Grace looked at him as if he were stupid.
“Right behind you is one of Felix Boscov’s crony’s.” Keegan settled into his seat.
“A Russian Arms Dealer? How cliché.” Grace pulled down her bright green sparkly sunglasses and full out grinned. Even if their ride was a hunk of junk, it was a vehicle and it ran. Put her on a roof and she’d puke. Give her a car at any place and any time and she’d be in her own little heaven.
She zoomed out into the street and hit 70 mph in no time. The car began to rattle, ready to explode at any moment. As she weaved through traffic, Sophie held onto her seat for dear life and Shawn looked ready to die. Keegan seemed bored, or annoyed, maybe that was just his regular face.
They skidded into 12th avenue. Haley sped up behind Grace in her dodge, a cop on her tail.
“There’s one,” Grace looked in her review mirror at Haley.
“It’s the fuzz! Be cool!” Sophie saw the cops and leaned back in her seat.
Evie roared up on a motorcycle, Eli was right next to her.
“Wicked!” Sophie stared at her friend. “Now she just needs a leather vest.”
“Dude!” Shawn looked over Sophie and waved at Eli and Evie.
“And we’re stuck with the Taxi Cab,” Grace mumbled.
“We’re attracting too much attention,” Keegan warned. He was sitting up in the passenger’s seat.
Behind them, they could see five more cops chasing Haley. Another helicopter not NYCPD sanctioned flew above them. Black SUV’s rounded the corner and joined the pursuit.
“Why is it always black?” Sophie shook her head. “Ack!”
The helicopter started shooting and one of the SUV’s pulled out a machine gun. Sophie rolled up into a ball in the back seat. Shawn screamed and ducked his head down. Grace picked up speed and pulled in behind Haley. A police car that skidded into the street cut off Evie. She popped a wheelie and rode right over it.
“That was totally awesome!” Sophie shouted at Shawn.
“I know right?” He hollered back.
Haley cut in front of a car and it and crashed into the one beside it, causing a roadblock. By the time Grace reached the wreck, it had turned into an eight-car pile up.
Grace shifted gears and gained even more speed. “I love this car!” She screamed.
“I think I’m gonna puke!” Sophie wined.
